Unknown assailants reportedly attacked a police vehicle on the Corniche near the Qasr al-Nil Bridge in downtown Cairo on Monday afternoon, a security source told Al-Masry Al-Youm. According to preliminary investigations, the attackers hurled stones at the vehicle, smashed its windows in with sticks and then set it ablaze, the source claimed. The same individuals also allegedly threw rocks at cars attempting to cross the bridge, blocking traffic. In nearby Tahrir Square, protesters clashed with security forces on Sunday when the police attempted to open the square to traffic.
