The Orthodox Church is arranging with the Coptic Church in the United States the reception of President Mubarak in Washington this month. The Pope's office asked the archbishops in the U.S. to welcome the president and tell the immigrant Copts not to hold demonstrations against him, especially as this is his first visit under the new administration of President Barack Obama. A source with the Pope's office said the church will place a welcome ad that pledges allegiance to President Mubarak in the American newspapers.
On another note, the Coptic Orthodox Church warned against impersonating Pope Shenouda III on websites and e-mails, noting that the official website of the Coptic Church is: www.copticpope.org, as the Church found many false e-mails sent to businessmen in Egypt and abroad in the name of Pope Shenouda, asking for donations.
