Muslim Brotherhood Accused of Forming Jihadist Militias to Be Sent to War Zones
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 18 - 05 - 2009

The investigations carried out by the Egyptian State Security Investigation Bureau and the Supreme State Security Prosecution in the case of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) international organization unveiled links between the MB and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The accused in this case (404 Supreme State Security inventory) are 13 MB leading figures and members, starting with Dr. Osama Nasr Eddin, a member of the Guidance Bureau.
A note of the Investigation Bureau says that MB leading figures in Egypt and some Arab countries within the international organization staged, in coordination with Hezbollah, demonstrations during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip. In particular, this happened after Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah delivered his famous speech on December 28, 2008, in which he called on the armed forces to disobey the regime, the note goes on to say.
The note also points out that the MB has staged several demonstrations and protests in front of professional syndicates, mosques and public squares as well as marches in some governorates repeating what Nasrallah said in his speech.
The note adds that MB members of the Egyptian People's Assembly led the demonstrations in clear coordination between the MB and Hezbollah.
The note also affirms that MB leaders entrusted its branches abroad with staging demonstrations in some Arab and Islamic countries and urged them to break into Egypt's embassies and missions in Yemen, Jordan, Iran and Lebanon.
The note then says that Ibrahim Munir, secretary general of the international organization, who lives in London, had some organizational meetings in Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar attended by representatives of the Foreign Liaison Committee.
This committee is headed by Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, a member of the MB Guidance Bureau and Secretary General of the Arab Medical Union.

According to the investigations, the MB includes armed militias as part of the physical and psychological preparation unit. This unit is entrusted with purifying Egyptian students and attracting and preparing them physically in violent training camps, as well as organizing secret jihadist camps, as they are called.
The investigations also point out that the MB has formed jihadist battalions getting ready to travel to war zones.

According to the investigations, this unit, which is led by Ashraf Abdel Samie, one of the accused in the case, prepared a practical program to train these students to take arms under the pretext of defending the country.
MB lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud said the note of the State Security Investigation Bureau was false.
Likewise, all the accused denied all the charges leveled at them by the Prosecution before the Prosecution itself, which decided to put nine accused into custody for 15 days pending investigations.
Abdel Maqsoud told Al-Masry Al-Youm that all the charges in the note were just a movie script and said the person who wrote them had better work in the field of movies.

Al-Masry Al-Youm has learnt that the State Security Prosecution has issued no decision to arrest Abdel Moniem Aboul Fotouh, a member of the MB Guidance Bureau, who has been mentioned in the investigations.
The Prosecution has taken no measure, either, to lift the immunity of the three MB deputies mentioned in the investigations. The three MPs are Dr. Saad El-Katatni, Hussein Ibrahim and Saad El-Hussein.

Speaking exclusively to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Dr. Fathi Sorour, People's Assembly Speaker, said the Assembly had received no requests from the Minister of Justice to lift the immunity of the those three MB deputies in relation with the accusations against them of being involved in the MB international organization.
"If the Assembly receives such requests, they will go through the legal procedures; they will be sent to the Legislation Affairs Committee before being submitted to the Council so that the appropriate decision is taken" Sorour said.
He pointed out that the Assembly would only discuss whether such request would be "malicious" or not and would not interfere with the details of the investigations, the evidence or other procedures of the prosecution.
