Jama''a al-Islamiya seeks electoral alliance between Islamists, liberals
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 06 - 01 - 2013

Jama'a al-Islamiya is seeking to form an electoral alliance between liberals and Islamists for the next parliamentary elections.
Group spokesperson Tarek al-Zomor said Sunday that the group received several offers from other Islamists to form alliances for the elections.
“We seek forming an electoral alliance that includes liberal, Islamist and revolutionary forces to stand for parliamentary elections in all governorates to achieve demands of the revolution,” Zomor told Al-Masry Al-Youm. “The party is ready to form an alliance with all political forces. However, the final decision hasn't yet been made.”
Alaa Seddeeq, member of the group's Construction and Development Party, said Sunday that including the Watan Party is still being considered.
The Watan Party includes dissidents from the Salafi-led Nour Party under the leadership of former party chief Emad Abdel Ghafour. The Watan Party allied with former presidential hopeful and Salafi leader Hazem Salah Abu Ismail.
The Cabinet is expected to submit the parliamentary elections draft law to the Shura Council next week. After discussing the bill, the Shura Council will submit it to the Supreme Constitutional Court for review.
Prime Minister Hesham Qandil said the law must be ready 15 days at the latest after the approval of the new Constitution, which President Mohamed Morsy officially signed on 25 December.
