100 Employees and Nurses of First Day Surgeries Hospital in Nasr City Sit-in for Four Hours
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 29 - 05 - 2009

More than 100 employees, administratives, nurses and technicians of the First Day Surgeries Hospital in Nasr city had a sit-in protest against the late payment of their financial rights (since three months ago), their low salaries and their night shift allowance compared to their colleagues in the other hospitals.
The sit-in, which started from 8 am to 12 pm, lead to a state of confusion in the hospital leading to a chaotic event where one of the patients' relatives began shouting at the face of the director as the hospitals doctors would not aid her niece.
One of the hospital nurses Sabreen Hashim said, "We did not get our night shift allowance or our share in the hospital's profit for the past three months, under the pretext of lack of funds in the hospital.  Also, the administration has raised the tickets fees from LE one to LE ten."
A nursing assistant Shaima Mohamed, has revealed that the hospital director pays them LE 6 for the night shift while some of their
Colleagues in other hospitals are paid LE 70.
The Assistant of the Chairman of the Secretariat of the Specialized Medical Centers, Dr. Ahmed Yahia, asked the protestors to end the sit-in whilst promising to pay them their rights in the same day.
The hospital director Dr. Tariq Ali said that the employees, technicians and nurses were very angry due to a financial crisis where the Ministry of Finance has not approved the hospital budget as yet.
