Cairo - Mother of Aya Hegazy,a dual citizen of Egypt and the United States of America, called on Egypt's President and parliament to prevent prolonged pre-trial detention, saying that she put the plight and time of her imprisonment to good use by learning both Spanish and French. She added in a statement to Al-Shorouq Egyptian newspaper that her daughter was also keen on reading about psychology and economics. Hegazy, an activist in children field, was imprisoned in 2014 pending investigations in the case known as the "Beladi Foundation". She was accused of kidnapping streets children and imprisoning them in the headquarters of their unlicensed foundation. Aya's mother said that she was not optimistic about the verdict, saying that she was prevented from entering the court during the session due to the intensive security measures taken by the security forces.
