Today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with the U.S. Secretary of State, Mr. Rex Tillerson. President El Sisi expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of his talks with President Donald Trump on Monday and expressed his optimism about putting back the strategic Egyptian-U.S. relations on the right track that is based on realizing common goals. The President affirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the U.S., noting the importance of this decades-old cooperation, which is a cornerstone for security and stability in the Middle East. The President hoped that the U.S. would enhance its efforts in the coming period to support efforts to restore stability in the Middle East and resolve crises in some of the region's countries. This is in addition to pushing forward endeavors to revive the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. The President reviewed Egypt's efforts in this regard. Mr. Tillerson emphasized the new American administration's commitment to supporting Egypt and its people as well as its efforts to counter terrorism and realize economic development. He welcomed the positive and constructive talks between President El Sisi and President Trump and affirmed that he will follow up on the outcome of this meeting and coordinate with Egypt to reinvigorate bilateral relations, and enhance the strategic dialogue and cooperation frameworks across various fields. Regionally, Mr. Tillerson lauded Egypt's efforts to support endeavors to politically resolve ongoing crises, particularly the Libyan crisis. He confirmed that he looks forward to enhancing consultations on the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis and ways to revive negotiations between the two sides. The meeting also touched on ways to further advance bilateral relations at various levels and to strengthen the strategic dialogue between the two countries. It also touched on ways to strengthen regional and international counter-terrorism efforts in addition to regional developments and ways to politically resolve them.
