Saudi scholar in Brussels calls for countering IS ideologies
Published in Albawaba on 07 - 03 - 2017

Brussels - The Secretary General of the Muslim World league Dr.Mohammed bin Abddul Karim Al-Issa stressed Monday that the message of Islam was one of moderation, humanism, and mutual respect, the opposite of the terror ideologies carried out by the so-called Islamic State (IS)
Speaking at a press conference in the Brussels Press Club, he said Islam rejected and refuted the terror messages, which terrorist organisations were trying to spread around the world.
"Terrorism comes from Daesh (IS) and Al-Qaeda and its criminal supporters. their terror messages and criminal actions are directed more against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia than any other country," said Al-Issa, adding that "we have to defeat their false ideology." Al-Issa, a former Saudi justice minister, warned that extremist groups have penetrated the social media to spread their misguided and false messages about Islam.
Over 1400 years, Islam is a part of important human civilization due to its lofty teachings and respect of freedom and tolerance, he stated.
Furthermore, he strongly rejected accusation that the Islamic Centre in Brussels was spreading extremism in Belgium as claimed by some sections of the Belgian press.
He noted that the Belgian government has itself verified that there is no evidence of these baseless accusations.
He said the League has launched initiatives in many parts of the world to promote dialogue and peaceful co-existence among people.
Al- Issa is currently visiting Brussels for meetings with EU officials and EU parliamentarians as well as with Belgian officials.
The Muslim World League is an international non-governmental Islamic organization founded in 1962 and based in Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
It is engaged in propagating the religion of Islam, elucidating its principles and tenets, refuting suspicious and false allegations made against Islam.
