Cairo - Turgut Oğlu, the Middle East director at Zaman Turkish newspaper, spoke to al-Bawaba News Portal about contemporary politics in Turkey. He revealed that Turkish President Erdoğan has a global strategy to manipulate majority-Muslims countries and he was the one who urged former Egyptian Islamist President 'Muhammed Morsi' to cling to his post, despite the mass demonstrations against him back in 2013. We asked him: Why has Recep Tayyip Erdoğan approach toward some countries in the Middle East region changed after the Arab Spring? He thinks that Erdogan always has great aspirations that exceed the reality. He wasn't dreaming to control Turkey only, but his dreams extended to be the Caliph and to restore the Ottoman Empire that used to control numerous countries in Asia and Africa. Thus, he started to contact the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt after they jumped to the power in Egypt until the outbreak of 30th June Revolution that ousted them. He added that he has assured certain information that Morsi was thinking to step down and call for an early presidential election, but Erdogan prevent him from doing that. Suddenly, Morsi found himself outside the presidential palace and moreover, in the jail. According to Oğlu, Erdogan's relations with terrorist groups have been increasing since 2013, as he has supported terrorism in Syria and Iraq by sending thousands of Islamism youth to fight with ISIS in Syria and Iraq. He elaborated, adding that terrorist group "ISIS got the chemical weapons form Erdogan, this is confirmed information. Moreover, Erdogan gets the crude oil form ISIS and Turkey become the safe area form the ISIS youth from their countries to Iraq and Syria."
