Egypt has officially nominated former Egyptian Minister of Family and Population Affairs ambassador Moushira Khattab for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, local reports said on Saturday. Khattab seeks to succeed Irina Bokova, who has decided to compete for the post of United Nations secretary-general. The officials added that Khattab has started a number of secret visits to the UNESCO state members to see their stances towards her nomination before Egypt's official announcement.
