Iraqi army retakes five areas in Fallujah from ISIS

Iraqi army forces have recaptured five areas in the western city of Fallujah from the terrorist ISIS group, a top Iraqi official told Anadolu Agency.
"Iraqi forces and tribal fighters have liberated five areas [in Fallujah] from ISIS and imposed their control over them," Anbar Operations Commander Major-General Ismail Mahlawi said.
On Tuesday, the Iraqi army, backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes, launched an offensive to regain control of Fallujah in Anbar province.
Mahlawi said more than 130 ISIS terrorists were killed since the offensive was launched.
He said an army commander was killed on Thursday when ISIS attacked an Iraqi force with mortars. Four army officers were also killed and eight soldiers were injured in clashes with ISIS on Wednesday.
Iraq has been dogged by rampant insecurity since 2014, when ISIS overran Mosul and declared a self-styled "caliphate" in parts of Iraq and Syria.
