MP Abdel Rehim Ali slammed Sunday the storming of headquarters of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate (EJS) as a serious violation of the sanctity of the prestigious association, Al-Bawaba News reported. Police forces have broken into the syndicate to arrest a number of journalists who were on a sit-in. It is the first time in history for this edifice to occur, Ali said. He called for an immediate and decisive probe into the incident. The state must deal decisively with those in charge of the incident that falls in favor of the enemies of the homeland, Ali said. Ali, editor in chief of Al-Bawaba News, called on Egyptian journalists, members and head of the syndicate to be "cautious" and try to deal with the matter "in a way that benefits the issue of free speech" and averts the country confrontations that bring losses for all sides. He added that he would submit an urgent parliamentary statement on the incident.
