Egypt refutes Sudanese claim of sovereignty over Halaib and Shalateen

Halaib and Shalateen areas lie within the Egyptian territory, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zaid said on Sunday.
Abu Zaid's remarks came after the Sudanese Foreign Ministry's call to negotiate over the contested areas of Halaib and Shalateen, stating that it would otherwise resort to international arbitration to restore its rights to the areas.
