Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ahmed Abo Zeid said Friday that the ministry has not been officially informed about Italy's decision to recall its Ambassador to Egypt over the case of the Italian PhD student murdered in the country Giulio Regeni, Al-Bawaba News reported. Abo Zeid pointed out that the Egyptian-Italian investigation teams did not issue any statements about the results of their meeting in Rome, pointing out that the ministry is awaiting the return of the Egyptian investigation team in order to discuss and evaluate the meeting results. Earlier today, Italy's Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentilioni decided to recall the Italian ambassador to Egypt, Maurizio Massari for consultations over the murder of Regini in Egypt. Regeni was found dead at Cairo-Alexandria highway in February, which provoked wide international condemnation from EU countries and others towards Egyptian investigations.
