The Egyptian public prosecutor has asked Cypriot authorities to extradite the man accused of hijacking an EgyptAir passenger plane on Tuesday in a bid to see his ex-wife and children, Egyptian state TV reports. Seif Eldin Mustafa, 59, appeared in court in Cyprus on Wednesday morning and was ordered to be held in detention for eight days. He commandeered a domestic Alexandria-Cairo flight with 72 passengers and crew on board by pretending to wear a suicide belt that he threatened to blow up if the plane did not land in Larnaca. All hostages were released unharmed.
