Once Again .. Salute for Martyrs
Published in Albawaba on 31 - 01 - 2016

When I wrote last week in this column "Salute for Martyrs", I was mesmerized by the faces of martyrs' children who stood next to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to celebrate Police Day. It seems fated to stand everyday and meditate another martyr's face displayed on TV channels and released in the front pages of newspapers. In the last week, we witnessed new stories of new martyrs whose blood was the price of our dignity. I have nothing to say here but to renew my attribute to the martyrs.
Here is again my article and renewable salute to those who grant us life and make glory, Rest In Peace.
...
Nothing is more dangerous to Egypt than terrorism is, and nothing is dearest for Egypt more than the righteous martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the glory of their nation.
What are you expecting me to say? Have you seen the bereaved mothers of the martyrs, or their broken-hearted wives? Have you looked into the eyes of their children? Once you do, you will understand the reason for our pains.
I always get broken-hearted while watching daily funerals of martyrs. I never go to bed before praying god to protect those heroes who keep us safe, to bring them back to their homes safely; they have sons and dreams as we do. The only difference is that they sacrifice themselves in order that we complete our lives.
I have known some of them, and I saw signs of their love for this country. They haunt me in my dreams, smiling, feeling they have performed duties towards their homeland, preferring confrontation more than fleeing from the battle scene and feeling convinced they pay their lives for generations to come to live safely.
If I were in charge, I'd ask Minister of Education to prepare a book on the martyrs of the army and police to be studies by all levels of education for our coming generations to know about martyrs' children and youth. And I am ready to do researches and studies to help this book come out to light.
The curriculum is not enough, but I call screenwriters and cinema producers to produce works about the life of those martyrs, and the stories of martyrdom to make our children and daughters bear pride in our heroes.
I know the state will take revenge of our martyrs and I know that our armed forces and our police will root out terrorism and will not forget they killed our children, for their resistance and persistence to keep the lands of their nation unified and safe.
Do not specify a single day to celebrate martyrs, but make all our days celebrations for the martyrs. We need to remember them every day and every moment, because they are the real bond that keeps vitality of this country. Do not turn to those who wanted to tarnish the image of our martyrs.
Those martyrs gave us life and safety without having to wait for rewards or gratefulness. Thus, we have to work hard for this country to remain it firm and great.
