Minister of Investment, Ashraf Salman met Friday with Australia's ambassador in Cairo, Neil Hawkins at the ministry's headquarters, to discuss ways to develop bilateral investment ties, Al Bawaba News reported. The meeting focused on the Egyptian-Australian relations, mainly in the economic and private investment fields, where the two sides stressed on the importance of developing and supporting ties in those fields. For his part, the minister briefed the ambassador on the Egyptian economy's progress during the previous period, in light of the government's latest economic reforms. Salman revealed the government's plans and efforts to improve the investment climate during the coming period. The Australian ambassador congratulated Salman on the election of the new Egyptian parliament, the last step in the political road map of June 30 revolution. He pointed to Australian companies' desire to invest in Egypt and increase the economic cooperation with Egypt, as it has promising opportunities for investment and business development, especially in the fields of food industry, energy and mining.
