The FBI have arrested a Maryland man for allegedly taking almost $9,000 from the IS to carry out an attack and pledging allegiance. The FBI arrested a Maryland man accused of taking nearly $9,000 from the Islamic State to carry out a terrorist attack in America. Mohamed Yousef Elshinawy, 30, was charged with providing material support to the Islamic State, lying to the FBI about money transfers and concealing evidence. Elshinawy told the FBI that he simply planned to keep the money and not carry out an attack. He is alleged to have bought a phone and a laptop, but the FBI could not account for all the money. The FBI claimed he had pledged allegiance to the IS in February and wanted to die as a martyr. He has been remanded in custody and appeared in district court on Monday in Baltimore, where he was formally charged.
