A state of contraversy raised among Egyptian Parliamentarians and politicians over the surprise resignation of the House of Representatives general secretary, Khaled Al-Sadr, who submitted his resignation on Thursday. Minister of Legal Affairs, Magdi Al-Agaty accepted al-Sadr's resignation and expressed his gratitude to him, and discussed the issue with PM Sharif Ismail. Who is Al-Sadr? Major General Khalid Abdel Salam al-Sadr assumed for a year the responsibility of Secretary-General of the House of Representatives. He worked on accomplishing the internal development plan of the parliament, through training a number of its employees, and qualifying them with legal expertise necessary to deal with the parliamentarians. He was keen to recruit qualified young legal researchers in the secretariat of the parliament and excluded some senior staff. Then, he announced holding training sessions for the new deputies on the legislative matters. A delegation of 20 parliamentarians went Saturday to the Council of Ministers. The delegation met the Secretary General of the Cabinet Amr Abdel Moneim and urged PM Sharif Ismail to reject the resignation of al-Sadr. For his part, al-Agaty asserted that he will not retreat his decision and announced that he has nominated a new secretary general of parliament after consulting the Prime Minister. However, al-Sadr can return to his position if he wanted, al-Agaty explained, saying that he did not force him to resign.
