Cameroon op sees 100 Boko Haram killed

Cameroon's army freed 900 people held hostage by Boko Haram, killing at least 100 militants, the country's Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
A massive security sweep near Cameroon's northern border with Nigeria at the end of last week also resulted in the seizure of weapon and ammunition stockpiles belonging to the extremists.
"A special operation conducted from Nov. 26 to 28 against Boko Haram in border areas with Nigeria neutralized more than 100 terrorists and released 900 hostages," the ministry said in a statement.
The operation also involved soldiers from Chad and Nigeria.
Boko Haram, which has pledged allegiance to ISIS, has waged a six-year conflict that began in northeast Nigeria but has spread to neighboring countries.
On Tuesday night, two suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked Waza in northern Cameroon, killing at least six people, local security sources said.
