The Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) new governor, Tarek Amer will start Sunday carrying out its duties officially in succession to former governor Hisham Ramez whose term expired on Nov. 26, Youm7 News reported. The new board was supposed to start working on 27 November, in accordance with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's decision, but as Friday is an official day off in the CBE and banks operating in the official market, which delays the date to 29 November, a Sunday. The CBE governor will meet with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and ministers of the cabinet's economic group on Monday. Amer served as first deputy governor of CBE from 2003 until 2008, and participated during this period in the implementation and preparation of the monetary policy reform. He also served as President of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) for five years from 2008 until 2013. The term of office of the experienced members in CBE's board of directors will last for four years, starting on 27 November 2015.
