The turnout in the early hours of Egypt's long-awaited elections reached 1.19 per cent of the total number of people registered on the lists of the Supreme Electoral Committee (SEC), Al-Masry Al-Youm reported Sunday. The first phase of parliamentary elections, that included 14 governorates, witnessed poor turnout in the early hours of polling, since 16957 citizens have casted their ballots until this moment, most of which are women, according to official statements of SEC's spokesperson, Omar Marwan. Citizens over 61 year-old are the major voters, whilst the number of voters between 18 and 21 is 268, Marwan said, adding that 20 thousand Egyptians in diaspora casted their ballots throughout the 2-day voting, most of them in Kuwait and KSA.
