Head of genetic transformation at Institute for Genetic Engineering and Research in Ministry of Agriculture, Said Khalil submitted a complaint to public prosecutor, accusing former minister of agriculture, Salah Hilal of public money squandering. Khalil accused Hilal, who is also accused of a number of charges related to corruption, of squandering EGP 131 million in debt swap with Italy and profiting from fisheries projects, Al Bawaba News reported Saturday. Hilal is accused of squandering EGP 131 million in the special program to swap debt for development between Egypt and Italy, as well as squandering money that was allocated to the National Fund to support the development of the fisheries. Khalil explained that Hilal's actions led to the deprivation of the state from a lot of money that would have been generated from operating the heavy marine equipment owned by the ministry, as well as the revenues of Bardawil, Aswan Dam, and Mariot lakes.
