Egypt's Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Awqaf forced the Madbouly Library, downtown Cairo, to immediately withdraw Religious Contempt in Egypt allegedly because it offends Islam, spokesperson for the Middle East Freedom Forum Publishing House said on Sunday. "We consider what happened an an attack from the religious establishment against the law and the freedom of thought, creativity and publishing," he said, adding the book is the first Arabic book to address the defamation of religions in details. The book has been issued by an officially registered Egyptian publishing house with a deposit and International number, he added, calling for intellectuals to support them against religious authority. The book has been written by Hamdi Assiouti and Magdi Khalil.
