Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities has not received a notification from U.K Ministry of Culture regarding the pharaonic statue Sekhemka after its export bar has ended, the state-run MENA reported on Friday. The British government has banned Sekhemka from leaving the country for a fixed period that ended in August 28, and stopped featuring it within the private collection of Northampton Museum, said Ali Ahmed, head of Recovering Antiquities Department. The statue left Egypt in 1849 and was bought by Spencer Compton, 2nd Marquess of Northampton, before Egypt banned the sale of antiquities. In turn, Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al-Damaty banned dealing with Northampton Museum, and called for donation campaign to buy the statue.
