Ministry of Health announced Saturday in a statement that 92 people have died since last Saturday, as a result of the enormous heat wave that has struck the country, Al Arabiya News reported. The ministry said that most of the victims were elderly people who have been suffering from chronic diseases and were affected by the rising temperature of the weather. The statement read that 191 people were injured on Friday across the country and were transferred to hospitals for medical treatment, highlighting that 121 people were released after receiving treatment. On Friday, the ministry issued a statement saying that 11 people died Thursday and 302 others were injured nationwide, as a result of the enormous heat wave that has struck Egypt. Egypt is currently experiencing a remarkable increase in temperatures that exceeded the level of 40 degrees Celsius in some areas and increased air humidity ratio. The average maximum temperature in Cairo and Lower Egypt reached Friday 38 degrees Celsius in the shade, while in the southern governorates it reached 43 degrees Celsius, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority. On Saturday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects the maximum temperature in Cairo to reach 39 degrees Celsius in the shade and between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius in several areas in south of the country. Forecasts indicate that the heatwave will be at its peak on Sunday and Monday.
