A young man from Chicago pled guilty for attempting to join an Al Qaeda-linked group in Syria. Abdella Ahmad Tunisian, 21, was charged with providing material support to terrorist and faces a maximum 15-year sentence. In his own words, Tunisian told the judge in a Chicago court "I wanted to go to Syria to fight with Jabhat al-Nusra." He said the group was also called "Al Qaeda in Iraq." Tounisi was arrested at O'Hare Airport attempting to travel to Syria after being in touch online with an undercover federal agent posing as a jihadi recruiter. Tounisi expressed the desire to die as a martyr. The government said he previously had planned to connect with other terrorists and blow up a nightclub in Naperville, Illinois. In a separate case, a Nigerian man was sentenced to 22 years in prison by a New York judge for his involvement with Al Qaeda. Lawal Babafemi, assumed to be about 35-years old, expressed regret for his involved with the terrorist organization, denounced the group and said he was "extremely sorry."
