Justice minister Ahmed Al Zend will finish draft of Criminal Procedure Code amendments within days, Columnist Abdel Rahim Ali wrote on Al Bawaba News on Tuesday. The exceptional measures are upon the order of President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi to accelerate the justice process, following the assassination of Egypt's Attorney General Hisham Barakat on Monday. According to Ali, The amendments include 5 main axes: 1. Giving the Court of Cassation the authority to retry convicts, not only ruling the right of retrial. 2. The court has the right to choose the witness it wants, and it's not obliged to hear the testimonies of all witnesses. 3. The lawyer who asks for changing the judge will be fined EGP50 thousand. 4. Designating maximum period of terrorism trials. 5. The rule contents should not exceed 50 pages.
