In his speech Saturday for the launching of the National anti-drug campaign, Egyptian PM Ibrahim Mahlab declared the government would continue its fight against drug abuse, Al Bawaba News reported. Mahlab took the opportunity to thank security forces and the ministry of Interior for their efforts in counter terrorism. "The state is facing a conspiracy of terrorism, addiction and chaos", he said, calling on people to take recovering addicts as an example and a model. He added that the teenagers' and children's addiction to narcotics was a real catastrophe which requires a comprehensive strategy. 2.4 % of the Egyptian population are reportedly addicted to drugs, according to statistics.
