The U.S. military started training this week for a first batch of 90 Syrian rebels in Jordan, to combat Islamic State militants, state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. It's a big step towards challenging Islamic militants in Syria that will eventually pay off, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter stated. "We're starting with the people that we've vetted very carefully," Mr. Carter said at a news conference. "We expect that to be successful and therefore to grow, but you have to start somewhere, and this is where we're starting." According to Wall Street Journal. ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) is an Islamic extremist terrorist organization controlling territories in Iraq and Syria. In subsequent fighting in Syria, much of it with other rebels including other jihadi groups, ISIS has gained and held significant amounts of territory.
