Forces from Egypt's navy and airforce arrived on Wednesday to Bahrain to participate in a joint Egyptian-Bahraini military exercise named "Hamad-1", reported Egypt's armed forces spokesperson. In a statement published on the Egyptian army's website, spokesperson Brigadier General Mohamed Samir announced that the Egyptian navy and air force units arrived to Salman navy base and Salman airbase in Bahrain early Wednesday. This is the first time that Egypt and Bahrain have held joint military exercises. Both Egypt and Bahrain are participating in the Saudi-led military coalition against the Iranian-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen. Currently the Egyptian capital Cairo is hosting a round of talks between Arab army chiefs-of-staff about establishing an joint Arab military force supervised by the League of Arab states.
