The Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider Al-Abadi, called on the United States during his meeting Friday with the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, Jack Reed to provide his country with weapons and train the security forces. Al-Abadi said that Iraq needs the weapons in order to liberate Mosul city from Islamic State (IS) jihadist group. Mosul is the second largest Iraqi city, which is currently the largest city controlled by IS. "The international support for Iraq increased during the last few days and we hope to continue and increase in order to expedite the disposal of terrorist groups", Al-Abadi said. For his part, Reed has expressed his satisfaction with the directives of the Iraqi government headed by Al-Abadi, adding that the United States supports the efforts made by the government in its war against IS group.
