The Islamic civil society network in Austria organized Friday evening a Candle-lighting ceremony inVienna, expressing their grief on the loss of three Muslim victims to hate crime in the US. Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported that more than 300 people participated in the event that took place downtown at Vienna's tourist area. The crowd included Arabs, Austrians, and foreigners that paid their respect to the three Muslim victims that were brutally murdered in an armed and racist attack at North Carolina. Participants read some verses from the Quran and prayed for the victims. They also held banners and chanted pro-peace slogans, in addition to denouncing hatred and violence. Additionally, they referred to the holy Prophet Muhammad's hadith that regulates the relationship with one another. The representatives of the network denounced the violent act and referred to the murder of a Muslim woman, Marwa Al-Sherbini in a racist incident that took place at Germany in 2010. They expressed their sorrow regarding the Western media's negligence to this heinous crime, noting that Western media classifies Muslims who commit such crimes as terrorists.
