Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) militants reportedly seized Thursday a Yemeni military camp in the Shabwa province, southeastern Yemen, after limited clashes which left 3 soldiers and 4 militants dead, according to Sky News Arabiya. Al Qaeda militants controlled the infantry battalion no. 19 and captured dozens of soldiers as well as the battalion's commander, sources from the local administration of Shabwa said. They added that some tribal gunmen mediated for the release of the detained soldiers and their commander. The military camp is located on the border of Marib and Al Bayda' provinces, southern Yemen, also targeted by the Houthi group which is preparing to launch a broad attack on the region after it had seized control of Al Bayda' aided by the army.
