Cairo will host the African Women's Economic Empowerment Conference in April, in view of adopting the main theme of the 2015 AU Summit in Addis Ababa, titled "Year of Women's Empowerment and Development towards Africa's Agenda 2063." Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Chairperson, Amany Asfour said that many organizations and international institutions will participate in the conference including the African Union Commission, the International Union of Businesswomen and UN Women. Asfour added that the "Agenda 2063" will focus on the development of scientific research and technology, as well as the transformation of Africa's raw materials into final products for export. She pointed out that in order to achieve any success in the continent, African women should be empowered economically. "Agenda 2063" is a global strategy to optimize use of Africa's resources for the benefits of all Africans to ensure positive socioeconomic transformation within the next 50 years.
