Richard Linklater's Boyhood landed a staggering 6 nominations for the 87th Academy Awards following its win of the top prizes at the Golden Globes. The film earned Linklater including Best Picture, Directing and Writing (Original Screenplay). Ethan Hawke received a nomination for Actor in a Supporting Role, while Patricia Arquette received a nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role, the actress' first Oscar nomination. Boyhood was also nominated for Film Editing first prize. The Theory of Everything, the true story of Stephen Hawking, received 5 Oscar nominations including Best Picture. Eddie Redmayne's portrayal won the 32 year old actor his first nomination for Actor in a Leading Role following his win at the Golden Globes. Felicity Jones received her first nomination for Actress in a Leading Role. Angelina Jolie's second directorial effort Unbroken featuring the story of Olympian and WWII war prisoner Louis Zamperini received 3 nominations. Roger Deakins received his 12th nomination for Cinematography. The film also received nominations for Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Laika's stop motion animation, The Boxtrolls received a nomination for Animated Feature Film. Four Star Films, the distributor of Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures films in Egypt, released The Boxtrolls and Unbroken and will release The Theory of Everything next week.
