The legendary Egyptian Actress, Faten Hamama has died Saturday at age of 83 due to circulatory collapse. She is considered one of the prominent actresses in the history of movie industry in Egypt, acting almost 94 films. Hamama was born in May 27, 1931 in the city of Mansoura and she made her first screen appearance when she was only seven years old in "Youm said" (Happy Day) movie in 1940, then she acted in many successful movies, which made the film critics dubbing her "The lady of the Arabic screen". Also, Hamama acted in an American movie entitled "Cairo" in 1963. She starred many TV series such as "Dameer Abla Hekmat" (Miss Hikmat's Conscience) and Wajh Al Qamar (Face of the Moon). Hamama was honored with many awards including Special Award from Soviet Union of Women in Moscow International Film Festival in 1973, Lifetime Achievement Award in the Montpelier Mediterranean Film Festival in 1993, Best Actress award in Cairo International Festival for her contributions to the Egyptian Cinema in 1996, and Lifetime achievement award as Star of the Century in Egyptian cinema at Alexandria International Film Festival in 2001. Moreover, Hamama married several times including the Superstar Omar Al-Sherif from 1954 till 1974.
