The Minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh Eldamaty made Tuesday a full plan to restore 1000 wooden pieces of antiquities belonging to Tutankhamen era. The Supervisor General of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Tarek Tewfik said: "For the first time, the Egyptian archaeologists and restorers took part in the most important scientific achievement of restoring the antiquities of Tutankhamen." In the same context, the Supervisor of the restoration team, Medhat Abdullah committed about the restoration operation, saying: "This is the first time for an Egyptian scientists and material to be responsible for such an operation." Abdullah added that the antiquities included a model of Pharaonic ship, golden chairs, and 133 twigs with different shapes. The restoration is considered to be the second restoration operation since the discovery of the tomb by Howard Carter in 1922.
