"Egypt's hardcore problem is that every political faction wants to create a country of its own. They cannot see beyond their self-centred goals and are driven by killing, vaulting ambitions. They build a mental, imaginary homeland in which they live with their loved ones and with those who accept their ideologies, while excluding the other once and for all. All the civil wars that took place worldwide in the past were fuelled by this ill imagination and illusions. And when these factions are disillusioned, it will be too late and after their 'mental' homeland pays the price dearly." Egyptian writer and author Belal Fadl, Al-Shorouk daily, December 25.
