Mansour out FORMER Zamalek president Mortada Mansour will be unable to run for the presidency in the club's elections scheduled for later this month. The National Sports Council said Mansour cannot run after being imprisoned for three years. However, at a press conference Mansour said nothing would stop him from representing the club's members in the elections. He has filed a lawsuit and is awaiting the verdict. All presidential candidates in Zamalek will be speaking to club members in separate symposiums held over the weekends leading up to the 29 May vote. Run for your life PRESIDENT of the weightlifting federation Mahmoud Shukri took his athletes by surprise during the national championships when he selected 10 participants to undergo a doping test. Zeinab Mossad Mahmoud, a 56kg participant, refused to submit to the test and fled with her coach from the venue. She has been ordered to return. It was the first time in the history of Egyptian sports that a doping test had been conducted in a national event. The samples were sent to a lab in Madrid. Meanwhile, four weightlifters who comprise the Egyptian women's weightlifting team will take part in an international championship in Austria this month as part of the team's preparations for the Mediterranean Games scheduled to take place in Italy in July. First after Beijing EGYPT's 2008 Olympic silver medallist judko Hisham Mesbah claimed his first gold medal after winning in Beijing last year. Mesbah won gold at the African Judo Championships in the 90kg weight category in Mauritius. The Egyptian men and women's teams collected eight medals in all -- three gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Shabana is back WORLD squash number two Amr Shabana of Egypt returns to the World Professional Squash Tour after recovering from an injury he suffered at the Squash International Championship in Hurghada, Egypt, last month. Shabana has bee disappointed over the many injuries he has suffered recently which forced him to lose several world titles and drop to number 2 in the world rankings which he had led for years. Still, three Egyptians are on top of the squash world: Karim Darwish, Shabana and Rami Ashour respectively. Wa'el Hindi is No 10. Darwish, a PSA World Tour finalist seven times since the beginning of last year and winner of three titles, celebrates his fourth month as world number one. Omneya Abdel-Kawi is the only female Egyptian to appear on the women's top 10 list. Abdel-Kawi is 8th while Raneem El-Weleeli is in 20th place
