EGYPT WAS placed in Group A following the official draw for the XVII Men's Junior HandballWorld Championships which will be staged from 6-19 August in Egypt. Egypt was grouped with Germany, Kuwait, Argentina, Qatar and Island. Group B includes France, Spain, Iran, Tunisia, Brazil and Norway. Sweden will lead Group C together with Estonia, Slovenia, The Netherlands,Libya.and Greenland. Group D will see Denmark, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Algeria, Belarus and Morocco. The draw was held Sunday at the Sky Club in New Cairo. Committe of Competitions (COC) chairman Leon Kalin carried out the draw in the presence of representatives from the Egyptian Handball Federation. In other developments, the International Handball Federation (IHF) announced that the World Championships for Youth and Juniors 2010, 2011 and 2012 will be awarded as part of the coming IHF Congress in Egypt. According to the bylaws, the IHF Council was compelled to shortlist two applicants per event from those which had submitted their bid, following a proposal by the COC. These bids are being brought forward to the congress which will make the final decision. Egypt will host the congress from 4-6 June in Cairo. The current president of the IHF, Egypt's Hassan Mustafa, will be running for re-election. Mustafa is seeking a third term. He was elected in 2000 when he became the first African and Arab to become president of the IHF. Mustafa is no longer president of the Egyptian federation following new regulations which forbid those who spent eight years in office to serve for another term. The elections which will take place alongside the congress meetings. The list of applicants to be tabled to the congress: Women's Youth WCh 2010 - Dominican Republic (is the sole candidate), Women's Junior WCh 2010 - Czech Republic and Korea , Men's Youth WCh 2011 - Argentina (is the sole candidate), Men's Junior WCh 2011 - Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece, Women's Junior WCh 2012 - Denmark and Switzerland No applications for hosting the 2012 Women's Youth WCh were submitted.
