Egypt is dominating the All-Arab Games, reports Ghada Abdel-Kader Egypt is atop the medal standings at the 12th 2011 Pan-Arab Games that runs from 9 to 23 December. After the fourth day, Egypt had collected 59 medals (26 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze). Host Qatar was in second with 31 medals (11 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze).Tunisia held third with 11 gold, four silver and six bronze. Saudi Arabia stood in fourth with seven gold, four silver and eight bronze and Morocco fifth with six gold, five silver and 15 bronze. In tennis, Egyptian women Magi Aziz, Menna El-Nagdi, Ola Abou-Zekri and Yasmine Ebada won a silver medal while the Tunisian team took gold. Egypt was in Group A which consisted of Morocco, Iraq and Kuwait. Group B had Tunisia, Sudan, Libya and Oman. The winner of Group A played the winner of Group B to determine the winner of the first and second places. In the round robin matches, Egypt beat Jordan 3-0, Lebanon 3-0, Tunisia 2-1 and Morocco 2-1. In the semi-final match, Egypt beat the United Arab of Emirates 2-1. In the final, Tunisia defeated Egypt 2-0. In shooting, Mohamed Hassan won the gold medal in the men's 10m air rifle final. Egyptian shooters Mohamed Abdel-Qader Mohamed Hassan and Peter Suleiman took a gold medal in the men's team 10m air rifle. Nourhan Amer, Noha El-Essawi and Shimaa Hashad captured a silver medal in the women's team 10m air rifle. Radwa Ibrahim won silver in the women's 10m air pistol. Shooters Shimaa Eid, Amal Ibrahim and Radwa Ibrahim collected a gold medal in the women's team 10m air pistol. Egypt's judoka Hussein Hafeez picked up gold in the men's 73kg, Gaballa Mahmoud pocketed gold in the 100kg and Mohamed Taha won a bronze medal in the +100kg. Both Hatem Abdel-Akher in 81kg and Ali Darwish in 90kg took silver medals. In artistic gymnastics, in the men's individual all-round, Mohamed El-Saharti won a gold medal while Ashraf Mustafa took silver. Salma El-Said won gold and Aya Mahgoub bronze in the women's individual all-round. Egyptian gymnasts Mohamed El-Saharti, Ashraf Mustafa, Islam Shahin, Mohamed Serour and Ali Zahran struck gold in men's qualification and team final. In chess, Ahmed Adli won a silver medal in the men's Blitz individual. Bassem Amin also won a silver medal in men's rapid individual. Mona Khaled took silver in the women's rapid individual. Egyptian bowlers Tarek Helmi captured gold while Karim Sherif settled for silver in the men's single event. Egypt's bodybuilders Mahmoud El-Fadali in U-80kg category, Adel Aziz in U-100kg and Attia Shaalan in the +100kg won gold medals. Mohamed Abdel-Raheem took silver in the U-90kg. Egyptian archers Nada Kamel garnered gold, Aya Kamel silver and Hania Fouda and Amira Mansour took bronze medals in the women's individual recurve 60m. Mansour also won gold and Kamel a bronze in the women's individual recurve 70m. Ahmed El-Nemr snatched a gold medal in the men's individual recurve 60m while Mohamed Abdel-Hadi and Hadi El-Kholosi took bronze in the men's individual recurve 90m. On Sunday, Egypt beat Iraq team 92-59 in basketball. A day earlier, Egypt slammed Sudan in the opening game 107-56.
