EgyptAir transfers Libyan pilgrims The national carrier EgyptAir operated exceptional flights between Libyan city of Masrata and Madinah in Saudi Arabia to transfer suspended pilgrims who could not fly from Tripoli airport. According to Hussein Massoud, chairman of EgyptAir, the carrier operated seven flights on Tuesday and Wednesday to transfer 2300 Libyan pilgrims. Qatar Airways expands in East Africa Qatar Airways is expanding its presence in East Africa following an interline agreement signed with Tanzania's largest carrier, Precision Air. The agreement allows Qatar Airways passengers to connect seamlessly via the Tanzanian capital Dar Es-Salaam to and from a wide range of East African cities . With this new agreement, customers are able to purchase a single itinerary combining flights on both carriers' global networks, affording them the ease of one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in. The Precision Air partnership helps extend Qatar Airways' reach even further across East Africa, where the airline already operates twice daily scheduled services to the Kenyan capital Nairobi and has just launched daily flights to the Ugandan city of Entebbe from November. So far this year, Qatar Airways has added 13 destinations to its international map. Boeing investigates LOT A team of Boeing experts from the United States headed to Poland on Wednesday to help authorities remove from a runway a jetliner that landed on its belly after its landing gear failed to open. Heavy fog grounded planes at several Polish airports even as Warsaw's international airport remained closed following a dramatic emergency landing on Tuesday of a Boeing airliner from the US carrying 231 people. The plane remains on the tarmac at Warsaw's Frederic Chopin airport at the intersection of its two runways. LOT Polish airlines said Wednesday that efforts were being made to move the plane to unblock one of the runways. LOT spokesman Andrzej Kozlowski told the Associated Press that a team of Boeing experts from the US were expected Wednesday in Warsaw. They are to consult on the way to remove the plane from the runway and inspect its technical condition. Meanwhile, flights that were to have been diverted to other airports in Poland are being postponed or canceled due to the fog, a frequent occurrence in November in Poland.
