VETERAN journalist Labib El-Sebaai was yesterday appointed chairman of the board of Al-Ahram, replacing Dr Abdel-Monem Said who was in charge of the establishment for almost two years. Abdel-Azim Hammad, one of Al-Ahram's managing editors, will be the editor-in-chief of the daily, the post Osama Saraya filled since July 2005. In addition, Alaa Thabet was named editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram 's evening paper, Al-Ahram Al-Misaai. The decision was made by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf after being agreed upon by the Higher Council of the Armed Forces.
