French Cultural Institute Madrasset Al-Huquq Al Frinseya St, Mounira, Tel 02 2791 5800 Sat 17, 7pm: On the occasion of “The Poetry Night” event organised by the Arab World Institute and the House of Poetry in Paris in fight against terrorism, the French Institute in Cairo will organise an evening gathering poetry and contemporary music. In the first edition, singer Mariam Saleh is participating. Saleh is an important figure on the Egyptian pop scene, as she sings to many of her generation's poets. The evening will begin with reading, where many participants will read poetry texts in Arabic and French selected by Mariam Saleh. Then Lekhfa band featuring singer Mariam Saleh with Mido Zoheir, Omar Mustafa, Michael Adel will control the atmosphere in the garden of the French Institute where Mariam Saleh and Tamer Abu Ghazala who will sing the poetry of Mido Zoheir. All the texts that will be read during the evening will be translated by Stéphanie Dujols for the first time from Arabic to French creating a distinctive copy.
