The American University in Cairo Moataz Al Alfi Hall AUC New Cairo Thurs 27, 10am-12pm: Celebrating the AUC's successful 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation by Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), a panel will be held introducing speakers: Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education; Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education; Youhansen Eid, NAQAEE President; Francis Ricciardone, AUC President; Ashraf Hatem, AUC Counselor; and Ehab Abdel-Rahman, AUC Provost. The American University in Cairo is the first university in Egypt to receive this international accreditation. Out of 523 institutions worldwide accredited by MSCHE, only 17 including AUC are outside of the United States, including four in the Middle East. The event will be attended by presidents of public and private universities, cultural attaches, members of the specialized presidential council for education and research, members of the advisory council of Egypt's scientists and experts, and a number of experts of higher education in Egyptian universities (The discussion will be followed by a press conference and simultaneous translation from English into Arabic will be available).

The novelist reviews a nearly 50-year journey in which the Nubian-born hero originates in Cairo in the 1940s. His forced journey begins from Aswan in the far south, after the sinking of his Nubian village following the boarding of the water tank and his father's death in a suspicious traffic accident with the English engineer, the designer of the Aswan reservoir. Sun 30, 7.30pm: “Transparent Translator”, on the occasion of the International Day of the Translator, Heba Sherif presented us with the opportunity to learn the secrets of the art of literary translation and its work, through a live Arabic translation of the novel The Tortoise Soldier by Melinda Nadej Abongi. Sherif will open the literary translation options and challenges for discussion. She will open the door to the interaction of the public with the translation process and put forward suggestions and questions.
