The Arcade gallery in Maadi presents “2010-2017”, an exhibition showcasing different stages and works by artists Wessam Quraish and Ahmed Sabry during those seven yers, during which both subjects and mediums changed. Wessam Quraish grew up in Upper Egypt in Qena and was interested in Upper Egyptian culture, inspired by the work of Yehia Al-Taher Abdullah. She uses dreams as a visual resource for photography, multimedia, and painting. Wessam Quraish Quarish graduated from the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, in 2007, and obtained her Diploma of Photography and Drawing from Helwan University in 2011. Since 2006 she has participated in local exhibitions, workshops and cultural events, such as “Seven Female Artists” in Al-Hanager Arts Centre, “Khadra 2” at Trail 2013 Centre, “Rosenama 2” at Medrar Contemporary Art in 2013, as well as “Khadra” at Darb 1718 in 2012. Artist Ahmed Sabry is a painter, illustrator and animator based in Cairo.Born in 1982, he obtained his BA from the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University. Since 2007, he has been interested in media and television as a visual and conceptual source, emphasising the relationship between text and images. He has given five solo exhibitions at the Mashrabia Gallery in Cairo, in addition to participating in numerous group shows at Gallery Misr and Darb 1718 as well as the Ministry of Culture's Youth Salon. Internationally he has exhibited at the Bamako Biennial in Mali, the Art Fair in Beijing, the Slovakia Film Festival and Ventenac-en-Minervois, France.
