Another game, another two goals and another electrifying performance by Mohamed Salah as he grabs the headlines for all the right reasons yet again. Can anyone stop red hot Mo Salah, as they call him in England, at the moment? The answer will probably be ‘no' if you ask football fans all over England as our Egyptian superstar is taking the league by storm, let alone the Champions League. This week Salah was getting ready to face a team that managed to keep four clean sheets against Liverpool last season in the form of Southampton. Yes you read it right. Two goalless draws in the league and two 1-0 defeats in the league cup semi-final meant the Reds were in for a very difficult game at Anfield as they hoped to extend their winning run. The only difference from last year's starting 11 and this game was Salah and what a difference it was. Salah singlehandedly ensured there would be no repeat of last year's disappointing results against the Saints as his two splendid first half goals confirmed his status as the signing of the summer in all the top leagues so far and enhanced his reputation as one of the two best players in the league at the moment alongside another Mourinho reject in the form of De Bruyne. Salah's first goal was absolutely magnificent as he curled the ball outside the box on the right hand side into the far corner leaving Forster with no chance whatsoever to send the Reds fans crazy in the stands. There was no stopping the Egyptian lad as he doubled his and his team's tally a few minutes later when his brilliant movement off the ball allowed the Reds' magician Coutinho to supply him with a peach of a pass to find himself one on one with Forster and with all the confidence in the world Salah finished it off before pointing to Coutinho to thank him for that killer ball. The second half saw Coutinho himself get the goal his performance deserved to kill off any hopes for the visitors as the game ended with a comfortable 3-0 win for Salah and his teammates. The two goals meant Salah moved top of the goalscoring charts in the league with nine goals from just 12 games to be the first player ever to do so in English football. Salah did what Suarez, Henry, Nistelrooy, Fowler, Torres, Cristiano, Cantona and many, many other superstars couldn't. Two braces in his last two league games and three braces in his last four games coupled with almost no missed key chances showed how far Salah has developed in just the last three months since he joined the Reds. He was occasionally criticised at Roma for failing to add to his tally when he scored an early goal. However, we're now talking about a player who gets really upset when he is substituted when on two goals because he knows the hat-trick was waiting for him. Klopp obviously took Salah off 17 minutes from time to protect him and ensure his most valuable player will be fresh for the crucial encounter against Sevilla this week in the CL. A win for the Reds will guarantee qualification and maybe the top spot as well while a defeat will complicate things a little bit and probably end the hopes of topping the group. Salah, who has got four CL goals so far in addition to his strike against Hoffenheim in the final qualifying round, will be hoping to cement his status as the most exciting player in the season so far by adding to his tally and maybe catch Ronaldo who's the top scorer of the competition with six goals so far. Did we ever imagine that we would put Salah and Ronaldo in one sentence? Did we think we would see Salah outperforming Messi in the CL so far? We would be lying if we said we did, if we saw any of what was coming. To see our boy notch 14 goals and four assists in just 18 games when many people doubted his ability to cut it in English football after his frustrating spell with Chelsea is simply a beautiful dream. To see legends of the game in the form of Henry, Gerrard, Lampard, Roy Keane and many others praise him week in week out and say he's easily one the best wingers in the world let alone the EPL is just beyond imagination for the most optimistic Salah fan. Initially, Salah hoped to score between 10-15 goals in his first season with the Reds but he's already scored 14 inside the first three months and is now on course to score 30+ goals this season, surely aiming to do so after his blistering start to life in England. He's already breaking records for fun at the moment so let's just hope he stays away from injuries and keeps going as strong as he is now. Mido, who was arguably the best Egyptian player to play abroad until Salah came along, made an extremely bold claim about Salah after the Southampton game. He said Salah is on his way to Real Madrid and that Liverpool will fail to keep him if he keeps playing like this. Was it a realistic claim from Mido? Probably so given that Salah has so far outscored all of Real Madrid's attacking players combined: Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale have together scored less than Salah so far. So Salah has the complete right to feel he can play for any club in the world if he decides to one day leave Liverpool.
