Thomas Bach was elected to an eight-year term as the ninth president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after two rounds of votes at the 125th IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 10 September. Bach will have the possibility of running for one additional four-year term at the 133rd IOC session in 2021.
