The third edition of Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children concluded its activities this week at Al-Hanager Theatre. It presented a wide variety of performances: theatre, dance, music, storytelling and puppetry from inside and outside Egypt. Bassam Al-Zoghby was there with his camera. The festival — organised by the AFCA for Arts and Culture — presented performances from the French Theatre Company, The Little Vampire by Sultan Bacchus and the acclaimed American show Aga-Boom, an interactive mayhem rooted in the unique European theatrical style that cuts through the barriers of language and culture with the art of slapstick and humour of physical comedy. The festival also featured a show conducted with underprivileged children from the project Amal Bokra, “The Hope of Tomorrow”, supported by the British Council. A diversity of workshops and performances were offered to the children in the outdoor space of Al-Hanager on the Opera House grounds.
